In much less successful mash up maneuvers, some guy (mis)named Robbiee Revenge has too much time and too many of our records on his hands. His mix of Lil' Jon's "Get Low" and Bloc Party's "Helicopter" almost works, but damn near anything could mash up well with Jon's evil stomp. Maybe the same can be said for Death From Above 1979, who let T.I. run ramshake over "Little Girl," it just doesn't work as well. I won't post Robbiee's Streets/50 Cent mash-up which is just lame. Instead you get Boston crew Dance Magic Dance Collision of Justice's "Waters of Nazareth," Spank Rock's "Put That Pussy On Me," and friggin Snap's "The Power."

This Bloc Party mash-up has been heard more than most. That Linkin Park dude has this Fort Minor project, and he released a "street" mixtape for, you know, the "streets." In it he and Boston's Apathy and LA's Tak (from Styles of Beyond) do a credible job on not making a shitty hip-hop song out of a Bloc Party beat. Hear it for yourself

Our boys in Flosstradamous throw the type of parties where people lose their shit so uncontrollably, it's like a spastic's convention. They also know their way around a mash-up, as their fierce, fearless new mix CD shows. Like Hollertronix before them, they rip up hip-hop into everything they can get their hands on -- you need to hear their Twista/Sigur Ros jam. Here's them taking Bloc Party's "Heliocopter" on a trip being led by David Banner, Lil' Wayne, Dem Franchise Boys and freaking L Trimm.

Flosstradamous Mix

While it didn't set the south (meaning, the entire world) on fire, we liked Bun-B's Trill more than most, and "Draped Up" was the jam. Matt from Houston's So Real posted this pretty excellent remix based around Bloc Party's "Banquet" and it works better than just about any we've heard. Houston producer Mozell is the man behind this one. For everything you need to know about Houston hip-hop (meaning, music) make sure to check out Houston's So Real at least once a day.

Diplo's podcast from his home base at Mad Decent spotlights Ed Banger Records. Check it out here. It's pretty rad, the first few minutes you hear Pedro Winter (head of Ed Banger) give a history of the young label and what the roots of the music are. Then you get ass smacked by an entire Ed Banger (Including a few Justice tracks) mix, by none other than Feadz of Ed Bangers.
