DOWN BESIDE YOUR MERCURY LOUNGE
Can you think of a better way to kick off the New Year than to have your hearts and minds collectively blown away at the Mercury Lounge? Cause we sure as h-e-double-hockey-sticks can't. VICE is launching 2007 in a big way with the Favourite Sons' confident home-town return to the stage January 3rd.
Brooklyn's prodigal boys are chomping at the bit to give it back to the audiences who have shown them nothing but unconditional love, lust, and support. They're going to start the 007 revolution with The View (that sweet band from the UK, not that show with all those fat bitches squawking about how much they hate Asians), and we promise, they're not looking back.
Don't miss out on your opportunity to be able to say you were there. You will not regret it.

BA BA BA BA BE A MAN

The first time we saw Atlanta's Black Lips, there were fireworks. Literally. Before the show was over, dicks were out, make out sessions were happening on and off stage and the gathered faithful were christened in beer and in love with the Black Lips. Through their previous 3 records on Bomp! and In the Red, the Black Lips have exploded to the forefront of a scuzz-garage, flower punk fraternity of constantly touring, piss poor kids making rock and roll cause they literally couldn't do anything else.
So now that they're on VICE, what're we going to do together? Well first, we shipped them off to play an impossibly insane show in Tijuana and put John Reis (Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From the Crypt, Hot Snakes) behind the controls. The result, Los Valientes Del Mundo Nuevo manages to capture the chaos of their live show (they kidnapped a Mariachi band to play with them for fuckssake) and pounds out some of the greatest hits of their past records.

WHO SAYS WE CAN'T PUT OUT 6 BOREDOMS RECORDS?

The Boredoms have been blasting their way to the forefront of Japan's noise-music community since 1987. VICE loves them so much we're reissuing 6 Boredoms records in 2007. On January 23 we're putting out Super Roots, Super Roots 3 and Super Roots 5 and on February 20 we're releasing Super Roots 6, Super Roots 7 and Super Roots 8 into the world. These albums, EPs, singles and remixes begin with the band at their most violent and absurdist and ends with them at their most magnificently tranced-out and blissful. You can read all about it over here.
Check out the noise with "Jungle Taitei" from Super Roots 8. Oh, and if you happen to be in NYC on 7-7-07, stay tuned as the Boredoms will be premiering their greatest work yet, 77 DRUM. A performance by the Boredoms with 77 drummers.

ED BANGERS SEXING UP AMERICA

Paris. The city of love. The city of lights. The city of kissing. The city of Bangers. Ed Bangers Records is the jewel of Paris and in 07 VICE is unleashing a slew of ass shaking pumpers digitally only on January 23. The creme of this crop is Ed Rec Vol. 1, a 12 song compilation of music from Ed Bangers' roster. Here's an amuse bouche from the compilation: DJ Mehdi featuring Chromeo on "I Am Somebody."
In addition to Ed Rec Vol. 1 we are digitally putting out 7 12"/EPs: Justice, "Steamulation" Krazy Baldhead "Bill's Break" Mr. Flash "Champions" Sebastian "Smoking Kills" Vicarious Bliss "Theme From Vicarious Bliss" Sebastian "Ross Ross Ross" DJ Mehdi "I Am Somebody" and Zongamin "Bongo Song." Ed Bangers is coming out strong to throw a spotlight on this new Parisian dance-punk movement that they've managed to bring together. Who wants some E?
