As everyone knows, President Obama met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York today. On the table for discussion: the necessity for the immediate start of peace talks between Jon and Kate. Just kidding--Obama met with the leaders in the hopes that long-stalled peace negotiations between the two countries can be resumed. Obvs. To mark the occasion (and to promote their monthlong North American tour), our friends in everyone's favorite Israeli garage-rock band, Monotonix, (read an interview here, whydontcha) sent us a sweetly trippy mix of their favorite Israeli songs.
The songs sound like forgotten psychedelic gems, only sung in Hebrew. Essentially, they sound like good vibes, Fiddler on the Roof-style. Maybe if the diplomats chilled with this mix during their meetings, everything would be smooth from here on out.

I saw what happens when orthodox Jews and music meet and let me tell you it was a fucking spectacle of epic proportions.

I'm going jogging through the hasidic neighborhood now, thanks.

As an Israeli, I can attest that they chose some nice songs, but some of them were weird choices. Where is Shlomo Artzi? Shalom Hanoch? Forits? Saharoff? there's good rock being made in Israel, that doesn't sound like Hassidic hymns. This compilation is like asking an american to prepare a compilation of American music, and receiving a tape full of (only) 50's doo-wop....that's not american music.

This mix is like a mixture of strong weed and those trick lighters that when you push down to light, an electric shock jolts your body. Pretty awesome.

Any way to get individual track artists and names? I'd to delve deeper into this stuff.
