Why forfeit the envelope money you earned by hanging out with your family over the holidays just to go see some insanely expensive show on New Year's Eve when you know damn well whether due to drunkenness of the self or others you're not going to pay attention to any of the bands? The night before the night before the new year is the best time to go see the last best show of the year. Follow that? No? OK, here, we'll make it very easy: go see Martial Canterel, Hive Mind, Damion Romero, Mike Shiflet, Telecult Powers & Bob Bellerue, Chaos Majik, and DJ Pieter Schoolwerth at Vanishing Point tomorrow.
i'm glad we think alike, vice. going to a bar or show on new year's never fails to be the biggest let down of the year. long lines for drinks, even longer lines for the pisser, and coming-out-from-the-woodwork drinkers puking all over does make for a good night. meanwhile, you can drop 60 on some good party favors and head to your pal's house party where the music is shit you want to hear and the guest bathroom is your own little booth of bad decisions and numb throats. now which of those sounds better?

i would love to go to the gang gang dance show, but there's no way on god's green earth i'm paying $50 to do so.
a place to bury strangers is a bit tempting too, but i've seen them like 14 gazillion times now and my eardrums could use a break.
