Today we meet Micachu, 20, a musician from London.
“Micachu’s
sounds come from found objects and homemade instruments. Her arrangements are
like patchworks. There is a certain fortitude to the way she presents her songs
so rawly and confidently.”
Micachu is
somewhat of Renaissance artist. She balances producing experimental pop with
her band, the Shapes, with MCing in various grime collectives and her studies at
the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she won a scholarship to study
composition...
Her prodigious musical talent has not gone unnoticed: Mark Anthony Turnage has commissioned her to write an orchestral piece for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. But perhaps the real beauty of her talent is her ability to keep things rough around the edges.
