I saw Queens of the Stone Age there and, let me tell you, nearly every girl in there had a wide-on for Josh Homme. That's how "intimate" it is.

My favourite gig story was when I went to see Capdown when I was 15 at the Kingston Peel. I stagedived for the first time ever, landed flat on my face, chipped my tooth and permanently scarred my lip. Totally worth it though. During the support act the bouncer strangled me cos I threw a plastic pint of water at the support act.
Fun times...

I saw the Piranhas once. After tearing up about 100 newspapers, throwing them about, shaving his llps with a Norelco razor, and vacuuming the stage; he pulled a live rat out of a bag and bludgeoned it to death with the microphone. then he gaffer taped it to his bare chest.
oh and then he ripped the lighting system out of the celing blowing the power. show over.
good stuff.

Back when everyone was 13 and wore baggy pants hanging off their asses and big chains and shit (was it just me?) I was at a Fear Factory show with my buddies and my friend got thrown up to crowd surf.
Mid surf he felt an uncomfortable sensation and realised that a guy had hit thumb in his ass.
A year later or so later and the new Fear Factory record blew but Will Haven were supporting them so we went to see them again at Brixton.
My buddy got chucked up to surf again and within seconds felt a familiarly uncomfortable sensation.
The thumber strikes again...

i was nine on holiday in france with my family and we went to see the family's favourite band The Levellers. The gig was a Cow festival or something in a tiny French village. Before any of the bands started, me and my mum went to find the loo, and ended up hanging out with the dreadlocked band members for a while. When The Levellers came on it was fantastic. we were all right down the front, perched on the barriers. We sang along to all the songs and at one point one of the bouncers asked if i wanted to go on the stage. Mum said it was ok so i went and sat on the edge of the stage and happily sang along to all the songs in my tie-dye dress. The violinist and the singer came over and got me to get up. So i spent most of the gig dancing with the band on stage. the end

Please note that the image of Terry Hall playing with the Dead 60's was actually taken by Gideon Marshall, not Julian Hayr as has been credited here.
