Sunny Garcia went from a poor kid living on the west side of Oahu, to world champion, then spent a little time in prison for not paying taxes on any of his winnings. Now he's out, looking for new sponsors, and aiming to get back on tour with the kind of seriousness that led to him chasing Brazilian surfer Neco Padaratz up the beach at this year’s Pipemasters.

sunny garcia. what a joke! I don't care how good he is or what he wins- thats ridiculous- fighting in a jersey? and then saying, "I just got out of prison, I don't have any sponsors". what a piece of trash. gets out and thinks everyone else still runs on prison rules.If you can't handle being hustled in the water then don't surf contests. I hope he got fined and can never find a decent sponsor again. No one should support such a sorry excuse for a "professional" surfer. Then a whole bit on how much he gives back to the community- thats rich!
