I started collecting tracks for a mixtape I was making last year and asked lots of grime MCs and dancehall artists to record me dubplates and drops, and give me exclusive tracks to use. I got stuff like dancehall legend Baby Cham doing a special vocal version of "Ghetto Story" on a beat by grindie guy Statik, and grime MC Jammer rapping on "Toxic" by Britney Spears, but what I most wanted was a dubplate by female dancehall star Ce'Cile. I pestered her for months until she recorded me a short vocal drop for the mixtape describing how she had something I wanted, but everything was fine because she was going to give it to me. Unfortunately this wasn't the dubplate I was after, I think it was something more of a sexual favor that she was offering up. Luckily, when VBS went out to Jamaica Vice UK's Jamie-James was able to meet up with Ce'Cile and convince her to do me a dub plate on a classic unreleased beat by Jammer he had with him. And so there was a happy ending to a story about one nerdy dancehall fan's ego-massaging quest. The End.
