Damn. Just as we were putting the finishing touches on our talk with Mike Williams all about trying to stay out of trouble, we got this note from a friend of his. Read it and weep.

Hey y'all. This is really, really fucking sad. Mike hasn't done ANYTHING wrong. Basically, what happened is that due to the hurricane, he ended up violating his probation (because there was no way to get in touch with his PO) and the judge chose to incarcerate a NONVIOLENT OFFENDER until his "hearing" next week. This is so wrong. With all the violent crime going on in New Orleans, it just really pains me to see the system fuck someone whose only crime was simple possession. (THREE YEARS AGO!) THIS IS BULLSHIT. Anyway, I talked to Mike before he went in, and have since talked to his girl Michelle. He's in good spirits and is looking forward to having this chapter in his life finally closed. Here's what Michelle told me:
Hi Everybody... Just wanted to let you know that Michael is currently being held in jail awaiting a probation violation hearing which will be held on April 26th here in New Orleans. This has nothing to do with the situation that arose from the arrest in Morgan City right after Hurricane Katrina. For that charge, he was given a suspended sentence and five years supervised probation. He was told at that time that his former probation out of New Orleans had been terminated. Once he was put back into the system, he unfortunately discovered that to be untrue. SO due to his guilty plea in Morgan City, he's violated his old probation. Just to reiterate: He has not screwed up this latest probation. He's been doing great since he was released 16 months ago. He wanted me to let everyone know the circumstances, so as not to have some crazy convoluted story going around. I'm sure that'll happen anyway, but he just wanted to let you guys know what was actually happening. There are basically three possible outcomes to this:
1) His probation could actually be terminated
2) His probation could be reinstated, and run concurrently with this new probation
3) His probation could be revoked, and he would have to do time.
I will let everyone know what happens on Thursday (hopefully, he'll be able to tell you himself). Until then, please just send him positive thoughts and wishes. Alicia’s MySpace is myspace.com/kittenIX if you want to leave an encouraging note.
